The Equalizer Season 2 Comes To DVD

Finally! The first season of the fantastic vigilante show was released a good few years ago and fans have been waiting to see if any other seasons were going to materialise, for a while it seemed like they weren’t. But now I have discovered that season 2 will be released in September, the 26th to be precise. So, not too long to wait!

For those unfamiliar with the show, it followed the exploits of Robert McCall (the great Edward Woodward) a former employee of a government organisation only referred to as “agency”, who now helps the helpless as a way to make up for his checkered past…People can get in touch with him through a newspaper ad - “Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer”.

I remember watching the series quite a bit as a kid and enjoying it a lot, but a few years ago I came across the opening title sequence on Youtube and it filled me so full of nostalgia that I bought the first season almost right away. It then became one of my favourite TV shows of all time, it’s a great mix of “classic” gritty 80′s New York, vigilante justice and a detective show. And Woodward is fantastic as the well mannered but extremely bad ass and dangerous English gentleman.

Roll on September!

  1. Great news. And if you like The Equalizer you might like his earlier role from British TV – Callan. It fits perfectly as a possible past life and idendity for McCall

  2. Season 2 of the Equalizer has been pushed back, all the way to January 2013. Just received an email from Amazon telling me this after I preordered it in early September :-(

  3. Ah damn it! We’ll be lucky if the rest of the seasons are out before we’re 80. Thanks for the info Dave.

  4. They can’t afford to have a television series like The Equalizer “corrupting” the intellect and morals of a dumbed down and degenerate society. It’ll surprise me if they ever do release the remaining seasons.

  5. Pathetic! Lool at all the crap they’ve released and collecting dust on store shelves. The Equalizer was one of the most entertaining shows of the 80′s; furthermore, the American audience was fortunate to have discovered one of the all-time great actors and legends in Edward Woodward. What a shame. Warner Bros. should be ashamed!

  6. Got a text from Amazon.uk. Season 2 has been dispatched–arrival date April 2, 2012. Place the order back in September of 2011. Monday will be a great day once the mail arrives. Based on the years between releases, season 3 should come out in 2016 and season 4 in 2020. Equalizer rocks!

    • I am under the impression that Season 2 of the Equalizer will only be sold in a format American and Canadian DVD players cannot play! Is this the case??? Were you able to play your purchase???? Would LOVE to get a copy of the Second Season! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

      • I’m based in the UK so I was able to play my set no problem. It’s really odd that they haven’t been released in the states yet, considering it was an American show.

Fingers crossed for a Region 1 release for you, or there’s always hacking your DVD player to make it multi region. Depending on the model of your DVD player it can be a relatively easy process.

  7. The Equalizer undermines the “War On Terror” because it exposes the true nature (evil) of the beast (intelligence community). The media gets its orders from the same individuals the government does. Keep dreaming…or order it from the UK.
