Fisticuffs Friday: The Prodigal Son

This week it’s Sammo Hung’s classic ‘The Prodigal Son’ from 1981, starring Yuen Biao, Frankie Chan and the late great Lam Ching Ying. The film is a prequel to Hung earlier movie ‘Warriors Two’, portraying the earlier years of historical figure Leung Jan.

The fight scene in question is the final duel between Biao and Chan. It’s one of the finest fights that Hung ever choreographed, it is fast, sharp and brutal; with Biao at one point headbutting Chan so hard that his forehead splits, leaving a big egg sized lump for the rest of the battle. Lovely.

Enjoy!
