Short Film Saturday – ‘Bus 44’

This week on ‘Short Film Saturday’ we have a Chinese film which was the debut of a Chinese/American filmmaker named Dayyan Eng, who has since gone on to become quite a successful feature director in China, with his most recent film ‘Inseperable’, having the rather eclectic cast of Kevin Spacey, Daniel Wu, Peter Stormare and Kenneth Tsang.

‘Bus 44’, apparently based on a true story, tells the story of a bus journey travelling through the middle of nowhere which goes from bad to worse.

This is yet again another film that I first saw on late night TV (Channel 4 I believe). Ahh, back when late night TV was good and not full of people playing poker and roulette.

Anyway, enjoy.

  1. I love this short, a classic late night discovery, I miss late night TV as it once was …

  2. Me too sir. Late night TV is terrible now, its rare that you see a movie on past 12 these days, I caught loads of gems at 2 in the morning in my teens. Now my only options are TV gambling (which is just a stupid concept) or home shopping.
